The Vuka Trust is a South African based development-focused non-profit organisation focused on upliftment of the impoverished and previously disadvantaged of the Southern African Region.

The challenges facing our area of the world are not unique but Africa flavours its children’s challenges with the harsh skies of the Kalahari and the gentle breezes of the Cape Southeasters and so the manner of address of these challenges sometimes requires unique adaptations to solutions that may be quite practical elsewhere. Our successes are true testaments to endurance and innovation and our failures provide the flavouring to our tomorrows and our people are a celebration of life’s ability to endure, simply through their smiling survival.

Africa offers the world a testing-ground for their humanity, a test of their willingness to participate in the Global Family of mankind by reflecting the polarities of glorious landscapes of breathtaking beauty, and the harsh reality of human greed and dire poverty.

Africa is the child of the continents – having surrendered so much of our indigenous wisdom to the glittering temptations of conquers through the ages, we stand now advantaged – learning from the mistakes of others on the road ahead, desiring to share our stories with the world so we can all contribute to the healing of an injured planet - together.

The Vuka Trust seeks to embody the spirit of Africa in its quest to enrich lives and heal injustice. We invite all feedback and correspondence and stand ready to assist wherever we can. Some solutions to our uniquely flavoured challenges may serve others in other parts of the world with adoption to their unique circumstances as the sharing of ideas enriches our efforts.

By providing a forum for interaction, sharing and support, the Vuka Trust invites all citizens of the world to be a part of the Healing of Africa, and from its lessons, learnt and shared, may we help to heal the globe.

Vukuzenzele!

(Translated from Zulu the above means to “wake up and be an instrument of change”)
